Day one in Seoul

When I arrived to Incheon (the airport), everything went really smooth. I found the bus going to Sinchon, where my school and its dormitory is at. So, an hour later I was in Sinchon. But now I realised that it’s really cold outside. I tried to find signs saying where I was at, but it was very difficult. So I just walked around, feeling like an idiot because people were staring. I thought it was walking distance to the school, it shouldn’t be that far?

I could have taken a taxi, or a bus. But it was way too intimidating, so instead I chose to drag my very heavy 25 kg suitcase WITHOUT mittens for 30 minutes. Then I gave up, and got angry at myself because I didn’t take the time to look up the directions before coming here… I didn’t learn from my experience when I went to Tokyo. I don’t know why I didn’t. And I who thought I wasn’t naive anymore. Oh well…

I found a warm place to rest for a bit, a restaurant called KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), and contacted a friend. I was just sitting at this place and I was freezing so much I couldn’t stop shaking. And it didn’t help that the door was opening all the time somebody came in or left. My Korean friend lives outside of Seoul but he still came to help me thankfully! So, after waiting for four hours there he came and helped me find the school (even he had trouble finding it). Jesus on earth!
