My book year of 2023 đź“š

This year I had a goal to read 12 books, but because of a slow start I didn’t accomplish that goal. I did however, discover a new genre that I love reading about – true crime! My book of the year is probably People Who Eat Darkness, by Richard Lloyd Parry. I bought it almost two years ago. It’s an extremely chilling and heartbreaking book to read. And sad. Nevertheless, I couldn’t put it down. That book introduced me to the hostess phenomena in Japan, it’s really interesting to read about as I myself spent many years as a young Western female in Asia.

I’m not sure if mangas count because it’s more like a picture book in my opinion. But I read the three first books in the series of A Man & His Cat. They were okay, but I probably won’t continue reading this series… I bought Cat + Gamer, and I liked this one better because the protagonist (female gamer) reminds me a lot of myself! Currently waiting for the second book to come out at my local bookstore…
